A life in music, education and arts management has produced encounters with a long list of interesting people as diverse as, for example, classical musicians Nigel Kennedy, Yehudi Menuhin, Thurston Dart, Davitt Moroney; “jazzers” Charles Lloyd, Howard Riley, Hugh Masekela, Django Bates, Steve and Julian Argüelles; “folkies” Ewan MacColl, Peggy Seeger, Bert Jansch, Mike Chapman, Paul Simon, Donovan, The Spinners, Ralph McTell, Wizz Jones, Cliff Aungier, Dave Swarbrick, Martin Simpson, Seth Lakeman, Norma Waterson, Martin and Eliza Carthy; bluesmen and "rockers” Alexis Korner, John Mayall, Dr John, Little Feat, Procol Harum, Ace, Jeff Beck, Lindisfarne, Andy Fairweather Low, The Jags; showbiz and media people Harry Secombe, Paul Gambaccini, Joan Bakewell; popular music academics Lucy Duran, Simon Frith, Paul Oliver; Nobel Laureates Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Maurice Wilkins; actors, playwrights, poets, dancers, comedians, artists and so on.
